چکیده

Climate change in the Indian Himalayan region is being manifested loss of glaciers and altered patterns monsoon rainfall. Simultaneously, rapid population growth together with economic development are increasing sectoral water demands changing land use patterns. This study investigated impact this complex interplay on resources Beas-Sutlej system. The GFDL-CM3 model was used to describe RCP8.5 future meteorological conditions throughout 21st century. Population changes were projected under Shared Socioeconomic Pathway-1 (SSP1). evaluation planning (WEAP) system applied for assessing demands. results showed runoff during premonsoon seasons due increased melting more rainfall, respectively. It also emerged that irrigation demand decreased moderately Punjab (8%–13%) Haryana (1%–9%); however, situation reversed Rajasthan where it by 14%. Adaptation strategies proposed including allocation converting lands cultivating staple crops Haryana.

Sustainable water resource management under hydrological uncertainty

[1] A proper understanding of the sources and effects of uncertainty is needed to achieve the goals of reliability and sustainability in water resource management and planning. Many studies have focused on uncertainties relating to climate inputs (e.g., precipitation and temperature), as well as those related to supply and demand relationships. In the end-to-end projection of the hydrological i...

Designing a new cropping system for high productivity and sustainable water usage under climate change

The food supply is being increasingly challenged by climate change and water scarcity. However, incremental changes in traditional cropping systems have achieved only limited success in meeting these multiple challenges. In this study, we applied a systematic approach, using model simulation and data from two groups of field studies conducted in the North China Plain, to develop a new cropping ...

Restoring the Qanats as a Traditional Water Transfer System: A Sustainable Approach

In a wide range of the central boundaries of the Iranian plateau, encompassing an important part of the arid areas in Asia, the phenomenon of desertification is a long his tory. In this arid and waterless expanse, living conditions are fully dependent on access to water due to the supremacy of the Kavirs and deserts. The most important and oldest ways of obtaining water have been Qanat or Kariz...

View Selection under Multiple Resource Constraints in a Distributed Context

The use of materialized views in commercial database systems and data warehousing systems is a common technique to improve the query performance. In past research, the view selection issue has essentially been investigated in the centralized context. In this paper, we address the view selection problem in a distributed scenario. We rst extend the AND-OR view graph to capture the distributed fea...
